Chamber Music
Overview
HYS’s Chamber Music Program fosters small ensemble skills, leadership development, and provides valuable performance opportunities. This program expands students’ musical horizons while also bringing live music to underserved community venues, including hospitals, shelters, and assisted living residences.
Formed into diverse groups of string, winds and brass ensembles, students learn how to perform in small groups with one player to a part, develop leadership, public speaking and team building skills and hone their performance mechanics under the direction of skilled chamber music coaches. Many of these young musicians are considering advanced music study, and this program expands their learning and performance opportunities in meaningful ways.
